Breakfast meetings near King's Cross: Fiena on Judd Street

Eggs Benedict with sourdough on the side at Fiena, King's Cross

A breakfast meeting needs three things: a table you can actually talk across, coffee that keeps coming, and food that doesn't get in the way of the conversation. If the cafes around the station are too busy, there's an easy alternative. Fiena, our family-run Italian cafe, bar and restaurant at 4 Medway Court, Judd Street, London WC1H 9QX, is a few minutes' walk south of King's Cross St Pancras on a quiet residential street, and we open at 08:00 every day.

A room you can talk in

Maria came in for a late breakfast after giving up on the busier cafes around King's Cross, and summed up the room like this: spacious, music not too loud, decor is not over the top (Maria M., Google review) and, she added, excellent coffee (Maria M., Google review). There's more about the space in our post inside the room.

Times that work around the working day

  • Doors open: 08:00 every day, Monday to Sunday.
  • Breakfast and brunch: served until 14:00.
  • Running long? The main menu starts at midday, so a meeting that turns into lunch doesn't need to move anywhere.

What to order when you're doing the talking

Some dishes are easier to eat between sentences than others. From our breakfast menu:

  • Granola bowls (V): granola, Greek yoghurt, chia seeds and seasonal fruit.
  • Poached eggs on avocado (V) on toasted bread, with chilli flakes, sunflower seeds, balsamic dressing and dukkah.
  • Scrambled eggs on toast with smoked salmon.
  • Classic Benedict: poached eggs and hollandaise on a toasted muffin, with ham, Florentine (V) or Royale (smoked salmon). Our post on eggs Benedict three ways has more.
  • Breakfast bap: a brioche bun with fried egg, sausage and bacon.

If the meeting can wait while you eat, the Fiena English breakfast is the full works. G. wrote: Great breakfast and warm service from the staff. Enjoyed the English Breakfast and Eggs Benedict (G., Google review)

The menu says it plainly: the eggs are free-range and the sourdough is proved overnight. Gluten-free bread is available too.

The coffee

Espresso, macchiato, cortado, flat white, cappuccino and latte, plus chai, matcha, turmeric and rose lattes, and iced coffee if it's warm out. Oat, almond and coconut milk are available. Loredana, who has been in twice, wrote: The coffee is excellent, the staff are friendly and professional (Loredana S., Google review) Read more in our guide to Italian coffee at Fiena.

“Great brunch place: good quality, reasonable price, friendly staff.”
